agile approach

We prefer to split every project into small steps (which ideally take less than 2 weeks - one sprint) and iterate in an agile manner. These smaller steps are split into small individual tasks which are under one day to deliver and we use task management systems (Jira & Asana) to keep daily updates. The internal culture is built in a way that we are short term inpatient and long term patient - as we believe that if we iterate quickly we will always find the right solution. And it is not an issue to make incorrect decisions if the resources at stake are low vs long projects. For larger projects we always run in-depth  analysis to make sure our choice has a decent chance of success. We approach the design phase properly - as smart design (and considering Paretto also for features built) we can optimise resource utilisation even tenfold. The projects which have ROI over 1 year need to be evaluated extremely carefully as most likely there are many other projects with similar impact and lower ROI.
